The Lonely Merman Prince Chapter 7

Merman Eridan X Reader

(Name) wasn't at school the rest of the week.  She wasn't here on Wednesday or Thursday at school.  School was over for the day on Thursday afternoon, but tomorrow there would be no school because it was spring break.  Eridan was worried about (name).  He knew something was wrong.  He tried texting her number, and he even tried using his Trollian to message her Pesterchum account.  But there was no answer from both.  He walked down the halls until he saw Kanaya.  He tapped Kanaya on the shoulder and typed on his phone.

"do you knoww wwhere (name) is I cant find her in school and she wwont answwer my texts" he typed with a worried look on his face.  Oh no, thought Kanaya.  She might as well tell him what's going on.

"Well you see," said Kanaya, "(name) saw you comforting Feferi a couple days ago.  She must have thought you two were, doing something else."

"oh fuck" swore the upset troll on his phone. "wwhere is she though I gotta tell her wwhat happened"

"John said she's been home sick with a sore throat." answered Kanaya.  "Maybe ask John if she's doing better, and maybe you can stop by her house tomorrow since we have no school."  Eridan smiled he typed his next message.

"great idea kan thank you i wwill go find john" he typed as he waved goodbye to Kanaya.  He walked down the hall and found John.  John looked confused at first, until Eridan typed his message on his phone.

"is (name) doin ok" he asked on his cell.  John nodded and smiled.

"Yeah, she's okay." he answered.  "She's a lot better today, but we wanted her to take it easy for now, so she didn't go to school today."

Eridan smiled, happy to hear she was feeling better.  "is it okay if i come see her tomorroww I havve to tell her something." 

"Ooh!" John said as he grimaced.  He looked like he failed epically. "Um Eridan, I'm afraid she's not gonna be here tomorrow, or the rest of spring break.  Her mom picked her up today and she's gonna spend the rest of spring break with her family.  I'm sorry.  I should have told you."  

Eridan was confused, until he remembered when they first met, she said she didn't live around there.  That she lived far away.  But when he arrived here, Cronus knew who she was.  How was this possible?

"john if you dont mind me asking wwhy did (name) movve here wwhy doesnt she livve wwith her parents anymore" he typed to John.

"She didn't tell you didn't she?" asked John.  Eridan just gave him a  concerned sad face.  What happened, he wondered.

"No, I guess she didn't tell you." said John. "She didn't want to tell anyone what happened before.  She made me and Jade swear never to mention it.  You won't tell anyone if I tell you, right?" asked John.

Eridan gave him a sarcastic look as he typed his message "john you knoww im a mute if you cant trust me you cant trust anyone"

"Point taken." shrugged John. "Well you see, (name) was always bullied at her old school.  Not many people would talk to her, and when they did, they would always say mean things to her.  She has sustained bruises and cuts from bullies. It was awful." When John was saying that, he looked sad and depressed.  It must have been awful to see his cousin go through this. 

"i nevver kneww shes alwways so cheerful" typed Eridan with a surprised look on his face.  

"She usually is, but she's been through a lot." answered John.  "She had one close friend, but (sigh) she committed suicide right before Christmas break.  And before that she had a boyfriend who cheated on her.  She wanted to leave that school for good but she didn't want to transfer to a nearby school with strangers.  So Mom offered for her to move in with us so since we're her close cousins.  Her mom was against it at first, but she eventually gave in and let her go. She's been doing a lot better, and made some new friends." 

No wonder she ran away after she saw me hug Feferi thought Eridan.  She must have been afraid of being betrayed again.  He never knew how hard (name) had it before.  Poor thing.  

"You met (name) before you moved here, didn't you." said John, interrupting Eridan's thoughts.  Eridan gave him a surprised look, wondering how he knew that.   

"You look like you knew her when you first came here." explained John. "You're face lit up as soon as you saw her.  And she used to have a blue and black striped scarf just like that." says John as he points to the scarf Eridan was wearing. "But she must have given it to you.  She sewn a new scarf, but it's purple and black, about the same purple as the symbol on your shirt.  Eridan, I think she has red feelings for you, but she doesn't want to admit it because of what happened earlier. "

"oh no i must find some wway to speak to her i made a huge mistake and i havve to make up for it somehoww" typed Eridan upset.

"I'm not sure what to do!" said John "Her mom and dad's house is an 8 hour drive away.  She isn't answering her Pesterchum for me.  I'll try to think of something though." 

Eridan looked upset.  He felt weaker than when he first walked on dry ground.  He had a chance and he blew it.  Still it wasn't John's fault this happened, so he just gave him a sad smile.  

"thank you lowwblood" typed Eridan. John wasn't sure whether to laugh or not.

"You're welcome, fish breath!" said John laughing a bit.  Eridan gave a small smile, but he was nowhere near in the mood to laugh.  He looked at the magic watch he had that told him how much time he had until the potion wore off.  He only had a few days left before it was May again.  And (name) would be gone the whole week, along with his chance of telling his feelings for her.  It's already too late.  He's almost out of time, and out of hope.  

Timeskip, the next day

Cronus was relaxing in the living room, strumming his acoustic guitar, letting his fingers dance across the instrument.  It was morning, might as well make breakfast for him and his little brother.  He walked to the room where Eridan was staying.  Surprisingly he found Eridan sitting on his bed wide awake, his hair messed up, his glasses on the table, and in his purple PJs.  This surprised Cronus as Eridan was the type that would sleep in all morning.  

"Well I can see you're up early today." chuckled the older brother, but then he noticed that Eridan looked upset. "Hey, why the long face?"

The young sea troll grabbed his phone from his nightstand, slipped on his glasses and typed his message.

"for one thing your stupid guitar music wwoke me up" he typed. "and I only got a feww days left until I become a merman again soon" Cronus nodded, understanding his situation.

"I see." said Cronus, "You're still slient, so that should have tipped me off.  What happened?  Why don't you plan a date with your dream girl and plant one on her?"

Eridan shook his head at his dancestor.  Talk about clueless. "i tried but i messed up she saww me hug fef wwhen her cuttlefish died and she thought wwe kissed shes wwent back to her moms yesterday and wwont be back until school starts again itll be too late" as he was typing a tear fell down his cheek.  Cronus felt sorry for his younger brother. 

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry I couldn't do anything to help" said Cronus as he gave his younger brother a hug.  Eridan struggled against it at first, but eventually he hugged him back, letting his emotions take over.  He wouldn't dare let anyone else see him cry before.  But at that momment there was a knock at the door.  Cronus stood up and went to answer the door.  Eridan took his blue and black scarf, the one that (name) gave him, and hugged it to his face.  But Cronus called Eridan with a happy surprise for him.

"Eridan, you have two friends here to see you." called Cronus, "They said thier names are John and Jade."  Huh, what are John and Jade doing here, thought the merprince.  Slowly Eridan walked to the door.  He found John and Jade standing outside, and thier Mom and Dad were in the car.  The Dad, who was driving honked his horn.

"If you wanna kiss the young lass, you better ride with us." said the dad, Jake English. 

"We're going to Aunt (your mom's name) to visit, and I asked if you can come with us." said John.  "I told you I would find some way to help you." Eridan beamed.  He might have a chance to turn this situation around.

"C'mon, hurry up!" said John as Eridan stepped out the door.

"Um, you might wanna change your PJs first." laughed Jade as Eridan's happy face turned into a silly embarassed blush.  He walked inside and changed into his normal clothes, complete with his blue and black scarf, and violet cape that (name) bought for him when they went to the movies.  He packed a small bag for overnight and stepped out the front door.  Cronus grabbed Eridan by the shoulder, concern in his eyes.

"Are you sure you wanna do this?" he asked "What if you don't get your kiss?  They live too far away from the ocean, and you could die. This is a big risk." he said.  But Eridan gave him a determined smile.  Cronus knew what his answer was.  He knew that he had to fix this or die trying.  He gave his brother a hug as he walked out the door.  Eridan went in the car with John and Jade as they drove to (name's) house.  He smiled for the first time this week, because now he had hope.
